A. GENERAL SUMMARY

The primary function of this position is to provide support to the Lux bank, the Russia FBO entity, and related European entities as the need arises through: cash and clearing reconciliations and related intercompany transactions to ensure balances are accurately reflected in the financial statements. This includes activities such as large exposure support, FX gain loss analysis and development of new product reconciliations. Reconciliation activities include using the Frontier system and other acceptable methods to research and clear exception items on a timely basis, and creating journal entries and related support as needed for various other departments within PayPal.

Additionally, this role will collaborate with the Regulatory Center of Excellence and Treasury teams in Luxembourg to ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g. validating Large Exposure forecasts). The role will also work with the accounting team in Russia and other markets to ensure compliance with local accounting related regulatory requirements.

B. SPECIFIC DUTIES


  1. Timely and effective reconciliation of cash and cash-related accounts, including accurate handling of reconciling items in accordance with company policy. Ensure accurate and timely posting of general ledger entries in SAP and customer accounts.

  2. Provide expert support for OPICS (and transition to SunGard) cash transactions, posting of interest and integration support where needed. FX related accounting is an integral part of this position. Support Treasury and Regulatory Compliance teams. Liaise with external third party vendors as needed.

  3. Liaison with Omaha FX team to ensure complete support for cash related issues during off-hours and facilitate quick resolution with third party vendors on bank related issues.

  4. Work collaboratively with Accounting and systems teams on the design and implementation of new products, minimizing manual processes and ensuring scalability needed for the company’s rapid growth.

  5. Partner with the Global Finance Product (GFP) team and internal accounting resources on issues that impact daily reconciliations and reconciling item research. Assist, as needed, with new product launches and market expansions that impact accounting processes.

  6. Work with a high degree of initiative to identify and recommend process improvement opportunities in the areas of reporting, reconciliation and analysis.

  7. Collaborate with teams in Luxembourg, Russia, and other markets that become relevant to ensure compliance with accounting regulatory requirements.

  8. Assist with or be responsible for other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.


Job Requirements

  1. Demonstrate a solid understanding of PayPal’s business products, transactions, systems and related accounting process flows. Understand the accounting implications from the transaction level, to the reconciliation level and then up to the general ledger of various money movement accounts.

  2. Demonstrate a high level of job discretion.
